The Paris Chamber of Industry and Commerce (Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris – CCIP) was the location, on March 27, 2006, for the annual presentation of awards by the European Council for Women, Businesses and Commerce (Conseil Européen Femmes Entreprises et Commerce – CEFEC).
CEFEC, founded in 1986 under the auspices of the French National Council for Commerce, promotes the role of women in all professions and in small and medium-sized enterprises.
Every year, this organization awards prizes to women entrepreneurs of merit, whereby national prizes are awarded to businesswomen from the various regions of France and – since 1988 – European prizes are awarded to businesswomen from countries in the EU.
For Germany, Mrs Sybill Storz, Chief Executive Officer of KARL STORZ, received the prize as Entrepreneur of the Year for 2006. As an additional award, she was presented with the prize endowed by the French President, Jacques Chirac, for the best entrepreneur in Europe. The prize was presented by Renaud Dutreil, Minister for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Trade, Small-scale Industry and the Professions, in Paris.
