On February 01, 2011, KARL STORZ Endoskope and almost 200 guests from Germany and abroad celebrated the grand opening of the new KARL STORZ Visitor Centre. Dr. h.c. mult. Sybill Storz and Karl-Christian Storz were delighted to share the grand opening with invited guests from the realms of politics, business and medicine. The ceremony included speeches by Mayor Michael Beck, District Administrator Guido Wolf, member of the Bundestag Volker Kauder and by Ministerial Director Klaus Tappeser of the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts, who joined the celebration in place of Research Minister Prof. Frank Frankenberg who had unexpectedly fallen ill.

In her welcoming speech, Dr. Sybill Storz confided that since joining her parents' company, the presentation of products to the outside world and its continuous improvement has been her "hobby." She explained that she was therefore particularly excited about the new Visitor Centre, which represents an avenue for customers to examine the entire KARL STORZ product portfolio, its advantages and its quality in detail. "I am so delighted that this Visitor Centre was completed within less than seven months. The schedule was obviously very ambitious. Today, we are able to present the completed construction project thanks to many loyal partners who have tirelessly worked together and taken on many challenges associated with the project", said Sybill Storz.

In his speech on the development of the KARL STORZ Visitor Centre, Karl-Christian Storz commented: "I believe this is an excellent example of what makes German small and medium-sized businesses successful the ability to make rapid decisions and to respond to changes in a very flexible manner. I mean no offense when I claim that in some large corporations, it would take seven months just for the plan to pass through all committees."
Following the official speeches, the visitors were able to experience the new KARL STORZ Visitor Centre first hand. They familiarized themselves with the building itself as well as with the product and system innovations that have been combined within the building in the form of HOSPITAL1®, the KARL STORZ concept hospital. The building design is centered on the presentation of integrated clinical processes that can be supported from start to finish by KARL STORZ products and systems.

Modern medical technology aims to solve demanding problems in everyday medical practice, which is increasingly characterized by greater complexity and multifaceted demands by physicians and patients. For more than six decades, KARL STORZ has met the challenge of providing physicians with exactly the right tools to support their work and increase patient safety.

With the new KARL STORZ Visitor Centre at the Tuttlingen headquarters, KARL STORZ has now created more than just an opportunity for product presentation and customer consultation. The Visitor Centre expresses a workflow-oriented perspective in which efficient processes all around the operating room are just as important as high-quality medical devices.

On 1,400 square meters of space, the Visitor Centre displays complete process chains – from diagnosis to resource management, surgical instrument management and endoscopic equipment of the operating rooms. Visitors can additionally experience the world of KARL STORZ products in an unprecedented manner on 18 specialty portals. Each portal offers comprehensive information as well as exhibits from the current product range and includes interactive touch tables that provide access to publications, catalogs and videos – using simple hand movements, since keyboard and mouse have become tools of the past in this environment.

The opening of the KARL STORZ Visitor Centre, which will welcome visitors from all over the world, represents another important step in the company's successful history. KARL STORZ is not only a leading endoscope manufacturer that sets standards in innovation and product quality, but the company has also been an established system supplier for many years. The impressive exhibition at the new Visitor Centre renders this forward-looking position even more tangible for current and prospective customers.
