Special program focuses on employment opportunities for veterans

EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--()--KARL STORZ Endoscopy-America, Inc., a supplier of surgical endoscopy equipment and related medical systems, is featured on the latest episode of “Military Makeover: Operation Career.” The series shares stories of military veterans who have successfully transitioned to civilian life by finding meaningful and rewarding career opportunities.

“These men and women have exceptional leadership skills, they have exceptional teamwork, they have exceptional grit and grace.”

KARL STORZ is home to numerous veterans—not to mention active reservists. The TV program highlights three former service members with varying roles and career paths. DaJuan (DJ) Lowery recently joined the company as Manager of Logistics and Distribution in Stafford, Texas. He retired as a Master Sargent after 26 years in the Army. Amy Jeanes has spent the past two years as a Customer Success Manager for integrated operating room installations, working from the company’s headquarters in El Segundo, California. She served for five years in the Army, achieving the rank of Captain. Matt Hopper served as a Navy medic for five years and has been with KARL STORZ for 28 years, most recently as Manager, Federal Healthcare, Veterans Health Administration (West), working from the El Segundo location. The three share their experiences and explain how their background in military service prepared them for a career with KARL STORZ.

“At KARL STORZ, we are focused on being an employer of choice and recruiting top talent,” said Paul Brubaker, Executive Director of Human Resources. “This includes hiring employees of diverse backgrounds and experiences. For the veterans who have chosen to bring their extraordinary talents to KARL STORZ, we create a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment that helps them transition from military to civilian life.” He also noted that the company’s core values—which include courage, respect, integrity, continuous improvement—generally resonate with service members, who appreciate the sense of purpose they get from working in the healthcare industry.

According to Sonal Matai, Managing Director, KARL STORZ has a longstanding relationship with the Veterans Health Administration and is the predominant provider of OR integration solutions across the Federal Healthcare space. In fact, the company remains the only supplier to receive an Authorization to Operate (ATO) from the Department of Defense (DoD) for OR integration. “We have a dedicated team focused specifically on the federal healthcare space,” he said. “Our military veterans not only bring extraordinary skills with regard to teamwork and leadership, they add special insight and understanding to help forge stronger ties with our DoD partners.”

Hopper echoed the sentiment: “These men and women have exceptional leadership skills, they have exceptional teamwork, they have exceptional grit and grace.” Given the vital contribution of military veterans, KARL STORZ plans to attend 14 veteran recruiting events this year to connect with individuals seeking a career in the medical device industry.

The episode of “Military Makeover: Operation Career” featuring KARL STORZ veterans will air on Lifetime on Nov. 29 and Dec. 6 (7:30 am Eastern and Pacific, 6:30 am Central, and 5:30 am Mountain) as well as on the Armed Forces Network, available to service members and Defense personnel around the globe.
