VITOM® 3D – 3D Visualization for Microsurgery and Open Surgery

The VITOM® 3D system provides many surgical disciplines with a revolutionary solution for the visualization of microsurgical and open surgical interventions.
Application possibilities are similar to that of the operating microscope. The most important functions are controlled via the IMAGE1 PILOT, which is mounted on the OR table in the direct vicinity of the surgeon.

Endoscopes and Instruments for Minimally Invasive Transnasal Skull Base Surgery

The use of an endoscope in transnasal skull base surgery offers distinct advantages. These include a wider field of vision and significantly improved light intensity which provide a clear visualization of deep-lying structures. Moreover, HOPKINS® rod lens telescopes with an angled direction of view (e.g., 30°, 45°) offer the possibility of a direct view of otherwise invisible areas, thus allowing a safe surgical procedure under visual control.

The introduction of high-resolution HD and 4K video technologies and, more recently, 3D endoscopy has played a significant role in providing the excellent image quality that is a standard feature today.

Endoscopes and Instruments for Frontal Sinus Surgery

The endonasal approach to the frontal sinuses requires sound anatomical knowledge and a high level of surgical skills and dexterity. The innovative planning software for new routes in FESS surgery

The NAV1® SINUSTRACKER™ planning software enhances the KARL STORZ NAV1® ELECTROMAGNETIC system with the automatic planning of access paths in paranasal sinus and skull base surgery. On the basis of a preoperatively set starting and destination point in the patient’s radiological data, the software allows the surgeon to determine a precise access path that is specially adapted to the individual anatomic structures of the patient.
The physician then reviews and modifies the suggested access path at his/her discretion. Intraoperatively, the selected route is visualized on the navigation screen so that the actual position in the site is under constant control.

Personalized Stapes Instruments with Color Coding

Color is the key!

Particularly in microsurgery performed on the delicate structures in the middle ear, it is important that the correct instrument is passed to the surgeon at all times. However, clear identification of very fine micro instruments is not always possible with the naked eye. The new, customized stapes instruments with color coding now make it easier to pass the correct instrument to the surgeon at the right time. This improves the workflow in the OR and increases efficiency.

Nine colors are available for coding the instrument types. One color can be selected for each instrument and one, two or three color rings can be used to denote instrument sizes. The color red, for example, was selected for 90° ear hooks and sizes 0.1 mm, 0.2 mm and 0.4 mm were denoted with one, two or three color rings on the handle.
