Interface Descriptions

Data exchange and communication at the hospital are optimized by using a combination of DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine) and HL7 (Health Level 7).

The two interfaces guarantee efficient connection to the hospital’s PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) and HIS (hospital information system) and meet the requirements of the international communication standards DICOM and HL7.

DICOM is the abbreviation for Digital Imaging and Communication in Medicine. DICOM is a worldwide open standard for the exchange of medical images and image-related information (patient data, work lists, information on treatment and patient reports) between different computer-based systems and network applications or physical storage media (DICOM, HL7, IHE) in health care.

Improving the efficiency and quality of medical care is closely associated with advancing the data-related communication and cooperation within and between health care facilities.

The international communications standard HL7 (Health Level 7), which was specifically developed for the health care field, permits the communication and cooperation between almost all institutions and areas of health care.
