The Future is Not Chance: 1,300 Trees Planted in Blumberg Over Three Years
Tuttlingen – The KARL STORZ Foundation once again joined forces with the medical technology company KARL STORZ and myreforest to continue their successful tree-planting initiative in the Blumberg region. For the third consecutive year, KARL STORZ employees picked up shovels and spades to support local reforestation efforts. This year, the KARL STORZ Foundation donated 500 trees, bringing the total number of trees planted over the past three years to 1,300.
Joining forces for regional reforestation
KARL STORZ employees once again contributed to the sustainable development of local forests. During this year’s planting campaign near Blumberg, they planted 250 young trees together after work. An additional 150 saplings were planted by myreforest, while 100 trees were planted by young people from the SBBZ Förderzentrum Hochschwarzwald. As part of Sustainability Week 2026, the KARL STORZ Foundation donated a total of 500 trees to support reforestation in the region. Of those, fifty were funded directly by KARL STORZ employees, who wanted to make a personal contribution through their own tree donations.
Supporting biodiversity and climate-resilient forests
The approximately 0.8-hectare site will be home to black pine, Norway maple, sessile oak, small-leaved lime, and walnut trees. These species were carefully selected to support the development of a diverse and climate-adapted mixed forest. Together with the trees planted in previous years, more than ten different tree species have now been established as part of the initiative. This growing diversity creates valuable habitats for wildlife and insects while strengthening the forest’s resilience to the impacts of climate change. The trees also make a long-term contribution to climate protection by absorbing CO₂ from the atmosphere as they grow and storing the carbon in their biomass.
An initiative with a long term perspective
With this year’s planting campaign, the KARL STORZ Foundation, KARL STORZ, and myreforest continued their successful partnership. Since the initiative began, a total of 1,300 trees have been planted. “As a charitable foundation, we are committed to supporting nature conservation and environmental protection, among other causes, because we firmly believe that the future is not a matter of chance but begins with taking responsibility. The fact that this tree-planting campaign is now taking place for the third time demonstrates how a single idea can grow into a long-term commitment shared by different partners. We are especially proud that KARL STORZ employees once again volunteered their time to actively support the initiative on site, enabling us to make a difference together,” said Anja Ebert, board member of the KARL STORZ Foundation.
