Fluorescence Imaging

Fluorescence-based procedures can be used to visualize what is hidden from view under conventional white light. With photodynamic diagnostics (PDD), pathological accumulations of fluorescent porphyrin products, for instance, can be detected in bladder tumors. Fluorescence imaging in the near infrared (NIR) range further expands the available diagnostic options and enables, for instance, the perfusion assessment of organs and tissues as well as the visualization of the bile duct. The fluorescent dye indocyanine green (ICG) is used for this purpose.

Core elements of these different methods are special light sources, telescopes, and camera heads that are adapted to fluorescence imaging. In combination with the IMAGE1 S™ camera platform, these fluorescence methods offer additional support for decision making in routine care.
