Contact Bleeding - Differential Diagnosis
Contact bleeding is mainly caused by ectopy and/or inflammation
In rare instances it is caused by invasive cancer
Cytology and colposcopy may underdiagnose invasive disease
Histopathology is needed to rule out invasive disease
Contact bleeding can be caused by invasive cancer
Prior to any hemostyptic treatment histopathologic evaluation is mandatory
Cytology may underdiagnose cancer associated with contact bleeding
Colposcopy may underdiagnose adenocarcinoma associated with contact bleeding
