Secondary Prevention of Cervical Cancer

Atypical Vessels – Squamous Cancer

  • Atypical vessels have bizarre shapes and may resemble a comma, corkscrew, or hairpin. These and other atypical shapes are suspicious for invasive disease.
  • A clinical diagnosis of cancer requires the presence of secondary features that are suggestive of invasive disease.

    These include:
    • yellow or white discoloration,
    • irregular surface,
    • bleeding, and
    • fragility.
