Last Sunday teams from around the world met at the Mühlau sports hall for the eleventh KARL STORZ amateur volleyball tournament. In addition to local teams, volleyball enthusiasts came from the whole of south Germany, Hesse, Saxony and Berlin. The KARL STORZ subsidiaries from Schaffhausen in Switzerland, Vienna, Paris, and Vianen in Holland provided the tournament with its international flair. And for the first time the tournament was attended by a KARL STORZ team from Verona in Italy and by a team from KARL STORZ USA.
The first three places went to: 1st TV 05 Fridingen Blocker; Fridingen; 2nd Magic Touch, VS-Schwenningen and 3rd Moosmänner, Donaueschingen.
The wide range of accompanying events and activities kept the large number of KARL STORZ staff, both current and retired, and their families well entertained. Events included nutrition and fitness advice from the Tuttlingen fitness forum, the rope skipping group the "Jelly Jumpers" from TV Nendingen, the AOK information stand as well as attractions for children such as a drawing competition, face painting, ball games, clowns and a video corner. A particular highlight was the photo corner where the company photographers took photos of children and families for free. The staff quiz, which gave away over 300 valuable prizes, was a real success. The top prizes (including a two-week trip to America) were personally presented to the lucky winners by Ms Sybill Storz and Mr Karl-Christian Storz.
