Thoracoscopic Spine Surgery – Set acc. to ROSENTHAL
The endoscopic approach to the thoracic spine acc. to ROSENTHAL combines the superior visualization of endoscopy with a minimally invasive thoracic access. Instead of an open procedure, small incisions allow access to the thoracic spine. Especially designed endoscopic instruments pass through these gateways and are manoeuvred during surgery. The anatomically preformed thoracic cavity allows thoracoscopic access to the thoracic vertebrae without any major preparatory work.
This truly minimally invasive endoscopic technique allows the removal of disc herniations, decompression of neural structures as well as fusion surgery.
Advantages of Thoracoscopy:
- Excellent visualization
- Reduced morbidity
- Reduced hospitalization
- Less complications
- Reduced pain due to small incisions
- Less damage to muscles and other soft tissue
- Avoidance of rib retraction and reduced risk of long-term post-thoracoscopy pain syndromes (that are difficult to treat)
- Better aesthetic result
