The new Bipolar Forceps acc. to CAPPABIANCA/CAVALLO

Since the endoscopic endonasal approach was first introduced in the 1990’s it was soon clear that, among the different pitfalls to solve, there was the need to design dedicated bipolar forceps for bleeding management to be used together with the endoscope. Straight instruments are easier to use with the endoscope, placing them either above or below the scope. The single-shaft bipolar forceps have been designed to be easily moved through the nasal cavities, which form a surgical corridor that is narrower than that of the microsurgical transphenoidal approach.

These new TAKE-APART® bipolar forceps are equipped with a relatively short shaft, just the right length to coagulate both the nasal mucosa and the dura mater during standard transphenoidal pituitary surgery. In this way there is one type of bipolar forceps for the entire surgical procedure. These instruments can be easily taken apart for cleaning and maintenance.

There are two shapes of jaw inserts which have been designed to reach and assure an effective bipolar coagulation in any area of the surgical field visualized under the endoscopic view.

Field of Application:

  • Endoscopic endonasal pituitary surgery
  • Endoscopic endonasal sinus surgery
