When the manufacture of surgical instruments began back in 1867, nobody even imagined that the foundation stone was being laid for the reputation which the town of Tuttlingen today enjoys as the “world center for medical equipment”.

But such success did not come about by accident. Continuous innovation, based on the region’s tradition of craftsmanship combined with close scrutiny of the world market, provided the basis for this development over generations.
As globalization marches on relentlessly, it would be the wrong strategy to rest on one’s laurels – and it’s certainly not the way things are done in Tuttlingen. Which is why, on 17 October 2003, the newly founded “Tuttlingen International Business School” will be opening its doors to students wishing to take the master’s course offered there in “Medical Devices & Healthcare Management”.
The MBA is the only one of its kind in Germany. The curriculum focusing on medical technology is not available anywhere else, and the close collaboration with KARL STORZ and other medical equipment makers is also something special. The higher-education partner for this course is the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences, which will also hold the MBA exams. The qualification is recognized internationally.
